What began as a string of arrests at age 18 has now escalated to the most serious charges yet for 26-year-old Chandler Bailey of Portsmouth. A Scioto County grand jury has indicted Bailey for Attempted Murder, along with Felonious Assault, Having Weapons While Under Disability, and Discharging a Firearm on or Near Prohibited Premises in connection with a June 25 incident.
Bailey is scheduled to appear for arraignment in Scioto County Common Pleas Court on May 21.
The indictment marks a grim milestone in Bailey’s long-running criminal history. Since his first assault conviction in November 2017, Bailey has repeatedly found himself on the wrong side of the law. His record includes convictions for escape in 2018, assault, theft, drug abuse, and even fugitive from justice.
The pattern continued through 2023, when Bailey racked up convictions for obstruction of official business and multiple assaults, alongside charges for criminal trespass, criminal damaging, and unlawful restraint.
In 2024, he was convicted of escape twice more, in February and October, and faced yet another theft charge. Most recently, on April 25, 2025, Bailey was again convicted of escape and sentenced to 180 days in jail by Portsmouth Municipal Court.
This latest round of indictments signals a dramatic and violent turn in Bailey’s ongoing legal saga — one that’s been building since his teenage years.
