Portsmouth Officers and CPS workers sprang into action to help some kids living in an unsafe home on Mabert Road.
Just after noon, the father of some of the children showed up wanting to take his kids from his ex’s home because it was dirty and unsafe.
When officers got a look at the home, they immediately called CPS and Portsmouth City Services and Andy Gedeon condemned the home.
The mother agreed to let some of the children leave with her ex’s relatives, and CPS said they would open a case with the parents. The woman also had a newborn baby, and police said she’d need to find a place to go.
CPS said they would arrange welfare checks on all of the children.
