Portsmouth Police responded to Tim Horton’s after a woman said that a man ripped off her cigarettes and mattress.
When police arrived at the restaurant, the woman claimed employees at the restaurant had witnessed the theft. The man said he didn’t have her property, but he had picked up a pack of cigarettes someone dropped. He gave the smokes to officers, and they returned them to the woman.
The man also allowed police to search a bag attached to his bicycle, where the woman claimed he’d hidden her inflatable mattress. Police said there was nothing in his pack but his clothes.
Officers advised the pair to stay away from each other. However, they did learn there was a TPO against the woman that had yet to be served. They informed her of the order and had her sign a form before both parties left the scene.
