City Building Project Cost Jumps to $4.6 Million

Portsmouth is considering boosting the budget for the revamp of the new City Building and for the upkeep of the Impound Lot.

In Monday’s upcoming City Manager’s Conference, City Manager Sam Sutherland will ask the council to consider a request to allot an additional $26,000 to cover architectural services for the new city building.

The architectural fees were set at 7.9% of the construction cost of the building, but due to increased construction costs, the proposed cost of the building is now $4.6 million dollars.

The City Manager’s Office also requests that council consider PPD’s request for more money for the impound lot. PPD would like an additional $3500 to cover title fees, utilities, and storage fees.

City Council can choose to accept the request and put the measure before council, modify the request, take no action on the request, or reject the request.
