Claude Edward Evans, 86, of Piketon, passed away at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at his residence.

He was born September 8, 1939, in Louisa, Kentucky, the son of the late Earnest and Cordie Marie (Short) Evans. Claude was united in marriage to Donna Jean (Dick) Evans, who preceded him in death.

A man of great character and work ethic, Claude began supporting his family early in life. His career spanned many industries, including mining, driving a feed truck, Fautless golf services and the railroad construction.

Known for his kind spirit and joyful presence, Claude earned a reputation as a gentle giant. He lived his life with a helping heart, constantly looking for ways to support those around him.

Claude was the second of eleven siblings. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Sue (James) Moore and Regina (Troy) Conley; and a sister-in-law, Teresa Evans

He is survived by eight siblings: Taylor (Sue) Evans, Michael (Kitty) Evans, Rick (Glenda) Evans, Earnest Jr. (Angie) Evans, Linda (Ronald) Anderson, Shelby (James) Davis, Cathy (Donald) Houser, and Joan (the late Ronald) Ward, and many nieces and nephews.

Claude’s legacy continues through his daughter, Rhonda (Jason) Verbeek, and his two granddaughters, Kendall and Kollyns.

Abiding by Claude’s wishes, no formal service will be held. Instead, the family will gather to celebrate his life with a meal on Friday, May 8, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m.- 2:00 p.m. at Stockdale Baptist Church on Dewey Extension.
