Out-of-State Woman Says Teen Sent Disturbing Messages—Here’s What You Should Do if You See It Too A routine day at a Lawrence County school took an unexpected turn when staff were alerted to disturbing online behavior involving one of their own students. A YouTuber from out of state contacted the school after noticing a student — allegedly a ninth-grader — sending inappropriate messages and images to her YouTube account. The woman, unable to identify the school at first, noticed the student was wearing a school shirt in several of her videos and began making calls to schools in the region to track down the teen. The school resource officer was notified, and while staff could not legally confirm or deny the student’s identity, officers launched an internal investigation using the forwarded messages and videos. They were able to identify the student in question and document the situation, but advised the YouTuber that she must file a report with her local law enforcement to initiate any official investigation.
