Columbus Ohio Sues Crime-Ridden Greyhound Station
In a lawsuit filed today, the city of Columbus, Ohio called the Greyhound bus station a public nuisance because it has been the scene of hundreds of emergency calls this year alone.
The complaint was filed by City Attorney Zach Klein and the Columbus Division of Police.
“The continued violence occurring at this property has plagued our city’s downtown residents, businesses, and visitors for too long,” Klein said.
More than 300 calls for service have been made to Columbus police so far this year. Guns, drugs, stabbings, overdoses, and a shooting have all occurred on the property, according to the department.
Reportedly, four overdoses and 11 narcotics complaints occurred at the station during the last four months.
Greyhound has not released a public statement.
They’ve been watching the property located in a busy part of downtown for years. Additionally, the station is located near a daycare center, restaurants, and hotels, which raises public safety concerns.
