Commissioners Ask For Changes to Final 9-1-1 Call Center Plan

Scioto County Commissioners called for a meeting of the 9-1-1 commission to go over the final plan to open a joint 9-1-1 center serving not only the county, but Portsmouth and New Boston.

The 9-1-1 commission consists of three voting members – Commissioner Cathy Coleman, Portsmouth City Manager Sam Sutherland, and New Boston Mayor Junior Williams.

Committee members would then meet with law enforcement and EMS officials to work on a final plan.

Local law enforcement and EMS leaders surprised the commissioners a few weeks ago by showing up at the meeting and calling for action to move the plan forward.

Commissioner Bryan Davis said the most recent financial numbers he’s reviewed for the plan seem promising. Commissioner Scottie Powell said, “Local law enforcement has already put so much effort into this project; this is just another step in that process moving forward.”
