Scioto County Commissioners say they don’t know why the Ohio Auditor’s Office executed search warrants against them and the County Economic Development Director, and they are waiting to find out what the investigation is all about, which is “frustrating.”
Commissioner Bryan Davis said that commissioners aren’t at liberty to comment on an ongoing investigation but did say, “I will go as far as to say that we are taking steps to assist in that investigation, and any result of that investigation we will take prompt action on.”
Davis said commissioners had received ‘very limited information’ about what prompted the investigation. “It’s frustrating not to know exactly what’s going on. We’ll take it day by day.”
Commissioner Cathy Coleman added, “I don’t know what else to say. In light of all the rumors that are going around, I would add that when I was sworn in, I gave an oath to abide by the laws and rules of the state, and I’ve not veered from that. I think that in the world we live in, people tend to rush and make assumptions. I would just ask that they be patient and let this thing come to its fruition.”
