The Scioto County Commissioners have one word on their mind for 2020: Cooperation. As Commissioners Bryan Davis, Mike Crabtree, and Cathy Coleman discussed the year ahead at Thursday’s meeting, Commissioners Davis and Crabtree both emphasized the importance of working together with the cities and townships in Scioto County to bring about economic revitalization.

Whiles discussing infrastructure improvement plans such as possibly adding a water tower to Minford to make sure there’s adequate water for fire protection at the expanded airport and business park, the topic turned to cooperation between communities.

“It’s a front-burner issue,” said Davis. “Healthy local governments are important.”

He went on to say that stability is key to drawing investment to the area and that businesses would look at an area to see if county and city officials were cooperating before deciding to set up shop in an area.

Davis cited the formal coop agreement with Lawrence County to foster development in both counties and continued cooperation between government, non-profit and private entities. “We work on it. Knowledge is power, communication is key. Having everyone working towards a common goal.”
