The South Webster community is grieving following the sudden passing of Marc Kreischer, superintendent of Bloom-Vernon Local Schools and a beloved leader whose impact stretched far beyond the classroom.
The district announced Sunday that Bloom-Vernon Local Schools will be closed to students on Monday, February 16, 2026. Staff members are asked to report to their respective buildings at 9 a.m., with additional information expected to be released soon.
Kreischer had served as superintendent since July 2014, dedicating more than a decade to the students and families of Bloom-Vernon. He also represented the district at the regional level, including serving as president of the Coalition of Rural and Appalachian Schools—advocating for small districts and rural communities across Ohio.
In a statement, South Webster Christ Methodist Church remembered him as a man deeply rooted in service:
“Marc truly cherished his family, his church, the students and staff at Bloom-Vernon Local Schools, and this community. His impact will not be forgotten, and he will be deeply missed.”
As word of his passing spread, tributes poured in from neighboring districts, colleagues, and community members.
Green Local Schools shared:
“To be honest, I’m struggling to find the words to adequately honor a dear colleague and friend. The best I can do is offer prayers and support to lift his family, the school, and the South Webster community as they process this devastating loss. The Green Bobcats are with The Jeeps.”
The South Central Ohio Educational Service Center said they were “devastated by this tremendous loss,” calling Kreischer a dedicated leader, passionate educator, and tireless advocate for students and staff whose influence will be felt for generations.
Nearby districts echoed that sentiment.
The Wheelersburg Local School District released a heartfelt message noting that in education, districts are more than neighbors—they are family:
“The loss of such a dedicated leader is felt deeply across our entire region. To the Kreischer Family: Our thoughts and hearts are with you. To the Bloom-Vernon Staff and Students: We see you, we mourn with you, and we stand ready to support you. To the Jeeps Community: Please know your neighbors in Wheelersburg are lifting you up in prayer and solidarity.”
The Washington-Nile Local School District also extended condolences, remembering Kreischer as an educational leader who cared deeply about students, staff, and the community he served.
Community members shared personal memories that painted a picture of a superintendent who was present, passionate, and deeply invested in everyday moments.
Caden Conley recalled Kreischer’s energy during high school basketball livestreams:
“His unbridled passion for both the game of basketball and the success of all of us at South Webster was a marvel to behold. If you cloned Marc Kreischer ten times, you could rule a small nation. The world is a little dimmer without him in it.”
Katie Wheeler spoke of his hands-on approach to leadership:
“Marc devoted his life to making his town simply ‘better.’ Whether it was carving pumpkins with his wife’s class, being involved in the athletic program, or doing a simple walk-through in the mornings, he made an impact on my kiddos—and the entire South Webster community.”
Others described him as not just an educator and administrator, but a coach, mentor, and friend—someone who showed up consistently for students and families alike.
As the Jeeps community begins the difficult process of mourning, one thing is clear: Marc Kreischer leaves behind a powerful legacy of compassion, leadership, and service.
Our thoughts and prayers remain with his family, the Bloom-Vernon school family, and the entire South Webster community in the days ahead. Kreischer is survived by his wife and two children, who remain in the thoughts and prayers of a community now rallying around them during this unimaginable loss.
