Construction Worker Struck By Tractor Trailer

On Thursday, shortly after 6 p.m., the Ohio State Highway Patrol reported that a semi-tractor-trailer struck a person.

The incident was reported to have been in the southbound lane of 23, near Carter Lumber.

In the initial reports from OSP, Portsmouth Ambulance had two units on the scene and the patient was still on the ground. According to them, he was nonverbal at the time but would respond by squeezing his hands.

It was arranged for the patient to be flown to Cabell Huntington Hospital by Medflight.

According to Medflight, the patient was a 67-year-old construction worker who had been struck by a tractor-trailer going 50 miles per hour.

Medlight stated that the male was now verbal and was unable to recall the incident.

The patient was transported safely to Cabell Huntington for critical treatment.

Currently, we are waiting for the OSP to provide us with a formal statement on this incident.
