The Portsmouth Police Officer charged with domestic violence is finally out of jail after spending a long weekend behind bars.
Jeremy German appeared in court on Tuesday morning for an arraignment. After issuing a temporary protection order against him, the court released German on his own recognizance.
A pre-trial hearing was set for February 11 at 9:30 am.
The officer was arrested Saturday after he pulled into the Lucasville Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol. Just before 10 p.m., employees at the Post reported a car had pulled into their parking lot, and an active dispute was in progress.
Just before 10 p.m., employees at the Post reported a car had pulled into their parking lot, and an active dispute was in progress. “One of the parties involved is claiming to be a PPD Officer, but the attitude’s not matching.”
They said a woman claimed she had been hit and that the man kept grabbing the woman to prevent her from leaving. Concerned about their safety, the employees at the Post shut the doors and called for officers.
Officers eventually took Portsmouth Police Officer Jeremy German into custody and booked him into the Scioto County Jail on a charge of domestic violence. Due to the Martin Luther King holiday on Monday, German spent the entire weekend behind bars.
