A school resource officer investigated a report of a fight that broke out during class at an area high school.
A teacher called for help after kids began throwing punches in the hallway. The teacher said one of the students began cursing at another, claiming the girl was running her mouth. One girl began punching the other while she was sitting at her desk.
The teacher said the seated student didn’t fight back. When the teacher went to break up the fight, the aggressor punched him twice in the face, once in the eye and once in the lip.
The girl who threw the punch was taken to the principal’s office, and the other child to the school nurse. An officer transported the aggressor to the Lawrence County Detention Center, while another officer collected statements.
