Cops Called When Man Refuses to Leave Hospital

Portsmouth Police Officers answered a call to the Emergency Department at SOMC just after midnight. The facility wanted officers to remove a man from the lobby. 

They said he had already been treated and is refusing to leave, causing issues with the staff. By the time police arrived on the scene, the man had left. 

Just an hour later, officers were called to a local nursing home for a report of an intoxicated resident causing problems. They said he’d left the facility and returned intoxicated and was now throwing things. 

The facility arranged for an ambulance to transport him to SOMC for treatment, but he eventually calmed down. 

Jail Refuses Suspicious Person

Officers responded to the 2700 block of Gallia for a report of a man walking into the roadway. 

Police took him into custody and took him to the Scioto County Jail. Due to the man’s condition, an ambulance was called to the scene. The man refused treatment, and the jail refused to admit him.

Officers issued a citation and took information for a report. 

Screams on 13th Street

Just before 9 pm, witnesses reported a man lying on the ground and screaming at 13th and Union Streets. 

Officers took a man into custody for disorderly conduct. He was booked into the jail and immediately released per the court. 

Overdose on Kendall Avenue

Just after 5 pm, a witness reported that a man had overdosed in a vehicle parked at the Woodbine Apartments on Kendall Avenue. 

He was alert by the time officers arrived, but refused medical treatment. Police released him into the care of his family and served him with a no-trespass order from the property.
