Portsmouth Police responded to a 7th Street home after they were asked to check on the welfare of a two-month-old baby.
When police arrived at the scene at 11:44 am, they said the child seemed okay and wasn’t in any immediate danger.
However, they advised the residents to clean up the place. Police said Scioto County Children Services would conduct a follow-up to make sure everything was okay.
Squatters Storm PMHA Apartments
Portsmouth Police Officers removed two people from a Wayne Hills Apartment, spotlighting an ongoing problem for the Portsmouth Metropolitan Housing Authority.
Just after 9 am, a caller reported several people in a vacant apartment on Thomas Avenue. Police detained a man and a woman and ended up arresting John Harding on an open warrant for disorderly conduct. This was Harding’s 18th arrest.
Hours earlier, Portsmouth Police caught two parolees inside a vacant Farley Square apartment and took them into custody, and impounded several suspicious items.
Suspicious Lights in Green Lawn Cemetery
Right around midnight, a worried neighbor contacted Portsmouth Police Officers to report there were people inside Greenlawn Cemetery with flashlights. The caller said they were near the garage in the northeast corner of the cemetery.
Four officers responded to the area, and one patrol car spotted them heading south on Baird. Another officer caught up with the group of kids at Kinneys and Franklin.
Police dropped three teenage boys off at their respective homes and left them in the custody of their parents after a stern talking to.
