We’re all looking for a great deal on poultry this time of the year, but a 54-year-old Portsmouth woman took it a step too far when police say she tried to help herself to a couple of Cornish Hens without paying for them.
It happened on Friday, just after 6 pm at the Sav-a-Lot grocery store on Gallia Street in Portsmouth.
According to a police report, officers were called to the store after an employee noticed a woman concealing two Cornish Hens on her person. The employee followed Robin Holsinger, of High Street, to the store’s front door and confronted her. Holsinger immediately turned over the birds in question.
According to a police report, after being read her rights, Holsinger admitted concealing the birds and trying to leave the store without paying.
She was arrested and taken to the Scioto County Jail on a petty theft charge and held on a $1000 bond.Holsinger was also advised not to return to the store.
