Coroner Investigates After Vinton Avenue Death 

Just before 12:30 am, a caller contacted PPD to report they’d found a friend deceased in a Vinton Avenue home.  

Officers and EMS responded to the home, and medics confirmed that the victim was deceased.  

A coroner’s transport collected the deceased and transported them to Montgomery County for further investigation by the medical examiner 

Officers collected evidence from the scene and took information for a report.  

Body Discovered on Royce Street 

Officers and EMS responded to Royce Street for a report of a possibly deceased individual. Medics confirmed the person was indeed dead.  

Medics and officers spoke to a doctor who declared the time of death and arranged for a coroner transport to collect the deceased.

Officers Investigate Multiple Shooting Reports 

Portsmouth Officers investigated two reports of shots fired within half an hour on Tuesday. 

Just before 2 am, a caller reported possible gunshots fired at Speedway. Police responded to the scene but didn’t find anything suspicious.  

At 2:12 am, a caller reported hearing five gunshots at 7th and Lincoln. Within the next two minutes, two more reports of shots fired came in.  

Police found shell casings in the 1500 block of 7th Street. Officers impounded the evidence and took information for a report.  

Dog Attack on Turkey Foot Road 

A man contacted officers just after 10 am to report that his neighbors’ dogs had attempted to attack him. He said this was an ongoing issue, and the deputy that handled the call remembered being out on the same complaint a couple of weeks prior.  

The deputy said they would attempt to contact the dog warden.
