Counseling Facility Worker Indicted on Sex Crime Charges

A 20-year-old Wheelersburg man who once worked at a local counseling facility has been indicted by a Scioto County grand jury on multiple sex crime charges.

Tyell Baker faces charges of:

According to the indictment, the alleged crimes occurred in June. Prosecutors say Baker used threats—or the threat of force—to compel victims to engage in sexual activity. In some cases, the indictment states, he targeted two individuals over whom he had “supervisory or disciplinary authority” while they were patients in a medical facility.

The grand jury also alleges that some of the conduct happened under circumstances where it was likely to be observed by others.

Connection to Counseling Work

While the indictment does not name a specific employer, Baker’s public Facebook profile lists him as a case manager at an area counseling center. That connection raises troubling questions about access and authority in environments where patients should feel safe.

Court Proceedings

The Scioto County Municipal Court has issued a warrant for Baker’s arrest. An arraignment is scheduled for September 17.
