Country Stars Coming To Portsmouth on April 15

Country Star Chris Turner is teaming up with local songwriter Rick Ferrell to bring a top-notch concert to the Verne Riffe Center for the Arts.

The pair have scheduled a show for April 15 at 7 pm.

This show offers a chance to see breaking artist Turner perform with veteran songwriter Ferrel, who wrote Turner’s biggest hit, “All in the Same Boat.”

Marie Darnell-Brown from Meta MoJo Productions said,  “You usually only see shows like this at venues such as Austin City Limits and in places like Nashville.”

In addition to writing “Same Boat,” one of the most-played country radio songs of all time, Rick Ferrell has written many songs like Martina McBride’s “Where Would You Be” and actor Riley Smith’s “Chocolate.”

Chris Turner, a former US Marine, is known for his good-time country show as well as emotional songs that tap into gut-deep experiences.

“I admire Turner because he uses his platform to help raise awareness and be a voice for other veterans,” Darnell-Brown said. “Turner has charted at No. 16 on iTunes with his ‘American Made’ EP Release and featured in Forbes Magazine Feature with UFC Legend/Actor Randy Couture.”

“With Portsmouth starting to see lucrative revitalization, there must be entertainment to aid that enrichment process,” Darnell-Brown said. “SSU students and locals all stand to benefit from such enriching entertainment opportunities, as well as Portsmouth business and the city stand to gain additional tourism dollars and tax revenue.”

SCDN will have an exclusive interview with Chris Turner coming up next week.
