County Commissioners Approve Increased Police Protection For Washington Township

Scioto County Commissioners voted unanimously to approve an agreement for increased police patrols in Washington Township. 

Washington Township and the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office have reached an agreement to expand police protection in the area.

Commissioner Scottie Powell said this new agreement provides two deputy sheriffs on patrol and also additional police activities within the township. 

The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office will provide 80 hours a week of police services in total. The price tag for the expanded coverage comes to $119,252.59 per deputy, around 10 grand each month for the services of each deputy. 

The contract is for one year and began on the first day of this year.
