Deputies and CPS became embroiled in a custody dispute when a dad called them just after noon. He said he was attempting to pick up his child, but the mother refused.
Officers waited with the man for CPS to arrive, and he requested a squad to check the child for possible drug ingestion.
Once CPS arrived, they took custody of the child and placed them with another family member.
