Head On Crash on Swauger Valley Road
Just after 6 pm, officers and EMS responded to Swauger Valley Road after a report of a two-vehicle head-on crash.
When EMS responded to the scene, they requested another ambulance and for a chopper to stand by to transport a patient.
EMT Ohio didn’t have a squad available, but Portsmouth Ambulance was able to dispatch a unit.
Medics later called in saying they didn’t require a second squad or a chopper.
Woman Hospitalized After Vehicle Flips on Bosner Avenue
Medics transported a woman to the hospital after a vehicle flipped on its side after a 3-vehicle crash just before 7 am on Bosner Avenue. Callers reported a woman was trapped inside.
First responders freed a woman from a vehicle, and officers issued a citation to a driver for failure to control.
The injured woman was taken to SOMC and then transported to Grant Hospital in Columbus for further treatment.
Drunk Driver Smashed into Parked Cars
A man cops say was under the influence crashed into two parked cars on 4th Street just after midnight. Witnesses said a passenger in the vehicle took off on foot.
When officers arrived on the scene, they took Gilbert Miguel Gonzales into custody for having physical control of a vehicle while under the influence.
Officers arranged to have the man’s vehicle towed and booked him into the Sciot County Jail.
Truck Hits Ice, Goes Into Ditch
Officers were called to Harrisonville Avenue at 9:40 pm after a report that a truck went into a ditch.
Officers learned the driver hit a patch of ice before crashing into the ditch. The vehicle was not blocking the road, and the owner said he planned to have it winched out of the ditch and towed in the morning.
Officers said that would work for now, but if the vehicle was not out by morning, they would impound it and call for a tow.
At 4:45 am, a vehicle crashed into a tree on Piketon Germany Road. Dispatch said the female driver was awaking and talking. OSP and EMS responded to the scene.
