Officers took a dad into custody after his daughter said he backhanded her. Deputies were called to an area high school after a student came into the nurse’s office to report an incident with her father.
The child said she’d woken up feeling unwell at about 5 am and went to sit on her grandmother’s lap for comfort. She said her father came into the room and screamed at her about being lazy.
The man then backhanded her and busted her lip. She said when she got up to go to school, he pushed her against a wall.
Officers learned the grandparents have custody of the girl, but the dad lived in the home with them.
Officers called CPS and notified the father’s probation officer. The probation officer placed a holder on the man until he appeared in court on the charges.
