Dad Calls Cops After 8-Year-Old Lights Up

Angry dads kept PPD officers busy. One man contacted police after he caught his 8-year-old smoking and another furious father threatened to wreck the restaurant where his daughter used to work. We hit the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.

Just before 6 am, a caller contacted police to report her daughter’s boyfriend threatened her daughter and spit in her face. An officer took information for a report and headed to SSU to check their cameras for video evidence. 

Officers were called to 16th Street for a report that a man locked a woman out of her apartment. The woman was sitting on the steps waiting for the officer. Police advised the man to leave the residence. 

Wanted Man Crashes on Mabert Road

A traffic crash at 17th and Mabert at 8:14 am turned up a wanted man with an open warrant from Adams County. 

Officers arranged to have the vehicle towed. 

Adams County officers met Portsmouth Police at the county line to pick up the man. 

Angry Dad Threatens Daughter’s Employer

Police were called to the Subway on Gallia after a report of the angry father of a former employee threatening the business.

The man was supposed to be on the way to the store. He allegedly called and threatened to destroy the store.  Police told employees to call them if the man shows up. 

About an hour and a half later, the daughter contacted police to complain that the restaurant held her check after she quit. An officer advised her it was a civil matter. 

Dad Mad After 8-Year-Old Lights Up

A fed-up father called police at 11:31 to report that his 8-year-old son had run off to the neighbor’s house and was caught smoking a cigarette with another young child. 

An officer spoke with and convinced him he really didn’t need the police.
