Dale Newland, 88, of Waverly, Ohio passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026 at Adena Regional Medical Center in Chillicothe, Ohio. He was born on April 15, 1937 in Pike County, Ohio, son of the late Floyd Curtis Newland and Florence May Williams Newland. On December 8, 1974 he was united in marriage to Lillie Mae Penn Newland, who preceded him in death on May 10, 2004. He is survived by his children, Elwin Newland, Deloris (Terry) Smith and Billie Green all of Waverly; grandchildren, Billie “Bo” Owen Green, Caleb Green, Dakota (Hannah) Newland, Tyler Smith, Braxton Smith and Kylee Newland and great grandchild, Wrenlee Newland and a sister, Helen Conley of Waverly. In addition to his parents, Dale was preceded in death by two brothers, Donald Newland and an infant and two sisters, Goldie Mustard and Thelma Mustard.
Dale was a retired truck driver. He loved visiting local churches especially Pennisten Chapel and Yankee Hill Church. He enjoyed spending holidays with family and had a love for old cars, fishing, hunting and tinkering in the garage.
Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, February 4 at Botkin Hornback Funeral Home in Waverly with Jack Moore and Junior Lawson officiating. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery in Piketon. Family will receive friends on Wednesday from 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
