Daniel Lee Hamilton, Sr., 70, of Portsmouth, passed away Wednesday, July 19, 2023, at the SOMC Hospice Center. He was born March 1, 1953, in Portsmouth, a son of the late Claude Forest and Juanita Gray Rudd Hamilton, Sr.

Danny retired from Hamilton’s Towing and he loved dirt track racing and karaoke. He drove the tow truck at Portsmouth Raceway Park for many years and helped his son’s racing team, Hamilton Racing. Danny also occasionally drove his son’s modified car and he loved to talk of the days when he drove a street stock car himself. He had also won several Scioto County Fair Demolition Derbies. As “Dan the Man”, he traveled the area with his karaoke equipment and made many friends over the years. Danny was a member of the James Dickey American Legion Post #23, the New Boston Eagles Aerie, and Loyal Order of the Moose.

Surviving is his son, Daniel L. (Kimberly Faulkner) Hamilton, Jr. of Portsmouth; three grandchildren, Devon (Caitlyn Garrett) Hamilton, Dillon (Kelsie Shaffer) Hamilton, and Erica Hamilton; two great-granddaughters, Aubrianna and Delilah Hamilton, with a great-grandson, Owen, expected in September; and several half and step-brothers and sisters, David Hamilton of Wheelersburg, Mark Hamilton of Noblesville, IN, Jimmy Davis of AZ, Susie Weghorst, Claudette Murnane and Angie Hamilton, all of Portsmouth, and Tina Brannigan of Wheelersburg, Kimberly Winters, Sherry Snyder, Cindy Winters and Bobby Davis.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by brothers, Claude “Sonny” Hamilton, Jr., Edward, Bruce and Michael Hamilton, Linda Lou Adkins and Rosemary Rowland; and half-brothers, Larry Davis, Billy Davis and Paul Hamilton.

Funeral services will be held Monday at noon at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Dennis Dawes, Minister, officiating.

The family will receive friends from 10 A.M. until the funeral hour Monday.
