Danny Clay Dingus

Danny Clay Dingus, 77, of Portsmouth, passed away peacefully at his home on March 4, 2026, surrounded by his loving family.

Born September 19, 1948, in Wheelersburg to Paul Seth and Doris Ilene Lawson Dingus, Danny was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He retired from the Plumbers and Pipefitters Union Local 577.

A 1966 graduate of Minford High School, Danny loved the outdoors, and he enjoyed  bird watching with his late wife, Deborah Sue “Susie” Ford Dingus.

Danny and Susie wed in Pontiac, MI on July 1, 1968, and had been married for 56 years at the time of Susie’s death on June 19, 2025.

He is survived by his sons, Steven Clay (Amber) Dingus and Todd Seth (Patricia) Dingus, all of Portsmouth; a proud and loving grandfather to Josh Dingus, Kurt (Heather) Harness, Lorna (Scott) Sommer, Tyler Crisp, Brianna White, Shayne (Lexi) White, Ricky White, Austin Jones, Katilyn (Paul) Brogdon, Seth (Jessica) Dingus and Alyssa Dingus; brothers, Ralph (Jody) Dingus of Wheelersburg, Kenny Dingus of South Webster, Brian (Anita) Dingus of Franklin Furnace; sisters, Retta (Dave) Ashley of Wheelersburg, Elaine (Mike) Smith and  Anna Marie (Larry) Davis, all of Minford; 14 great-grandchildren; and many cherished nieces, nephews, and their families.

Danny was also preceded in death by siblings, Lloyd and Merritt Dingus; and sister-in-law, Barbara Dingus.

Funeral services will be held at 1 P.M. on Monday, March 9, 2026, at the Ralph F. Scott Funeral Home in Portsmouth with Rev. Brian Bear officiating. Interment will be in Memorial Burial Park.

The family will receive friends from 11 A.M. until the funeral hour on Monday.
