Darlene Burgess Carter, 93, of South Shore, KY, went to be with her Lord on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Best Care Health and Rehab in Wheelersburg, OH. She was born in South Portsmouth, KY, on September 20, 1932, a daughter of the late Earl and Gladys Plummer Burgess.
Darlene retired from Mitchellace in Portsmouth, OH, after 40 years of service. She enjoyed watching her kids and grandchildren play sports.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Tom Carter; one son, Mike Carter; one brother, Bobby Burgess; and one sister, Shirley Boyles.
Left behind to cherish her memory are one son, Wes (Lou) Carter of Garrison, KY; five grandchildren, Daniel, Eric (Caitlin), Steve (Heather), Jeni (Josh), and Cody; eight great-grandchildren, Ava, Jax, Zane, Zander, Dawson, Gracey, Izzy, and Hunter; along with several other family and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be at 11 A.M. on Monday, March 9, 2026, at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, KY, with Tim Underwood officiating. Burial will follow at MT Zion Cemetery in South Shore, KY. Visitation for family and friends will be on Sunday, March 8, 2026, at the funeral home from 6 P.M. until 8 P.M. and from 10 A.M. until the funeral hour on Monday.
