David K. Maple, 73 of West Portsmouth, died Sunday, October 29, 2023, at his home. He was born December 19, 1949, in Portsmouth to the late Ralph and Marie Elizabeth “Betty” Wheeler Maple.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Michael Lee Maple, and a sister Debra L. Newman.
David was a retired United States Navy Veteran where he served for 28 years. He was an electrician and a member of IBEW Local 575 where he finished his career as the Director of the Apprenticeship Program. He was a member of the James Dickey Post 23 American Legion and the 40/8, the Eagles, and the Nauvoo Methodist Church. He was also a Mason and belonged to the Scottish Rite.
David was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather and loved his family dearly. He was a man of God and was always trying to help other people. He was also an avid Ohio State and Cleveland Browns fan.
David is survived by his wife of 50 years, Mary Lute Maple whom he married on February 17, 1973, a son Jason (Marcy) Maple, a daughter Tiffany (Jason) Diddle, 6 grandchildren: Delaney, Faith, Harper, and Gavin Maple along with Kaitlyn and Braxton Diddle, a brother Danny (Loreen) Maple, 3 sisters: Karen (David) Smith, Shelly (Tom) Temple and Julie (Chuck) Cooper along with several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be 1:00 PM Thursday, November 2, 2023, at the Roger W. Davis Funeral Home in West Portsmouth with Pastor Pete Shaffer officiating and interment in Scioto Burial Park.
