David Rea Conkey, 87, of Minford went to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 27, 2023, at SOMC Hospice. Born April 24, 1936, in Scioto County, the son of the late Thomas and Kathleen Coburn Conkey, he was a graduate of Portsmouth East High School and retired as a self-employed dump truck driver. In his early years, he worked for COBA, Purina Feeds, Reinhardt Trucking, and Schneider Trucking.
He was married to the late Ruth Ann Wells Conkey and is survived by three children, Tena Conkey of Peebles, Jennie (Bob) Kimble of Lucasville, Scott (Rhonda) Conkey of Lucasville; five grandchildren, Nicholas (Tasha) Kimble, Kala (JJ) Riley, Logan (Kara) Conkey, Heath Kimble, Kelsey Conkey; two great-grandchildren, Hunter and Mason Riley; three step-grandchildren, Enka Markins, Sean (Ciara) Berry, Kylie (Zak) Grossenbacher; three step-great-grandchildren, Lathan Markins, Bennett and Jack Berry.
In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by two brothers, infant Tommy Conkey, and James Conkey; and two sisters, Wanda Wood and Nancy Chamberlin.
David loved the Lord and attended Rubyville Community Church and was a past Madison Township Trustee. There were three things he was sure to talk about, church, politics, and cattle.

Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Erwin-Dodson-Allen Funeral Home in Minford with Pastors Calvin Ray Evans and Brian Baer officiating. Burial will be at Bennett Cemetery in Minford. Friends may call at the funeral from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. prior to the service on Tuesday.
