Deadly Teen Stabbing Timeline

New details in the tragic death of 18-year-old Jayson McGraw.  The 2022 Portsmouth West High School Graduate died in the early hours of Monday after a stabbing. The Scioto County Sheriff’s Office has released the call log from that night, enabling SCDN to put together a timeline of the tragic events.

1:02 AM – A male calls 9-1-1 to report his friend was stabbed while they were walking in an alley near 2nd Street in West Portsmouth. The dispatch said the caller was very upset, saying his friend was dying. 

1:04 AM – The sister of the original caller also contacts the police to report the incident, though she says she did not witness it. 

1:04 AM – Dispatch sends for Portsmouth Ambulance, and two deputies head to the scene. 

1:05 AM – Deputies arrive at the scene.

1:12 AM -A deputy locates a witness on 2nd Street who says she saw something suspicious. 

1:17 AM – Portsmouth Ambulance reports the patient in full code and requests a second squad, and reports one of the medics responding to the scene is the father of the victim.

1:24 AM – Officers comb the area and visit multiple locations searching for suspects. 

1:38 AM – Officers search for a vehicle with two women inside and also look for a suspect spotted headed towards Calvert’s. 

1:45 AM – Woman gives officer permission to search her garage for suspects. 

2:39 AM – Officers called to impound suspected drugs that fell out of the victim’s pockets inside the rescue squad. 

Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested two boys, aged 16 and 14, in connection with the stabbing.
