Portsmouth police were called to Gallia Street after a man was found deceased inside an apartment.
Officers secured the scene and contacted the Scioto County Coroner’s Office, which responded to take possession of the body. While investigators worked to notify next of kin, Animal Control was also called to the apartment to remove two dogs that had been inside the residence.
Authorities have not released the man’s identity or cause of death at this time.
Incidents like this are a quiet reminder of how many moving parts come together behind the scenes—law enforcement, the coroner, animal control, and family notifications—all working to handle difficult situations with care and dignity.
