Delores June (Challender) Turner passed away February 14, 2026. Delores was preceeded in death by her husband of 57 years, Kenneth Turner; two daughters, Denise Dixon, Kimberly Reynolds; a son-in-law Howard Reynolds; a daughter-in-law Dawn Turner, two brothers, Jack and John Challender and 15 grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Terrence Turner (Patty), daughter Deborah Friend (James), 24 grandchildren and 52 great grandchildren.
Delores was a longtime member of South Webster Baptist Church. Delores’ Christian faith was the center of her life. She was a prayer warrior foe others and prayed for each of her many family members nightly. Anyone who knew her, knew how much she loved her Lord and people.
Delores was an avid seamstress and even had Singer sewing training at a young age. She took in sewing/alteration jobs for many years as well as sewing many lovely quilts. She briefly worked at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.
Delores was a voracious reader. She was often to be found with her nose in a book. She loved word games as well, her favorite being Text Twist. It made her day if you would play a game or ten with her.
Delores was raised in a more suburban Springfield, Ohio. She and her husband moved their family back to Wheelersburg after buying his family farm. She gardened, canned and preserved nature’s bounty in abundance. Delores was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Children were a great joy in her life, and with so many grandchildren, she was often surrounded by them.
Delores was small in stature, at 5 foot 3 inches, but large on personality. She will always be our “Sassy Treasure” and our faithful prayer warrior.
Psalm 116:15 “Precious in the sight of the Lord is the death of His saints”.
