Deputies Investigate Runaway Patient

Medical personnel contacted the Scioto County Sheriff’s Office to request a welfare check on a woman who walked away from the hospital with an IV in her arm.

The doctor wanted county personnel to go and remove the IV, but that’s not a service officers provide, so they decided to check on the woman at her home on St. Rte. 139.

She told deputies she left the IV needed behind at the hospital, and she did not want a squad. She did say she planned to go to the VA for further treatment at a later date.

Sidewalk Sleeping on the Esplanade

Police responded to the Roy Rogers Esplanade at 8:30 for a report of a homeless person lying in the doorway of a business.

The requested officers move the person along and advised them to stay off her property. However, the sidewalk sleeper left before officers arrived.

Strange Man Reported on School Property

Portsmouth Police responded to a report of a strange man lurking about the Vern Riffe School on Gallia Street.

The principal said the man had walked right into the building, talked to a cleaning lady for a bit, and then left. She said he then walked around the parking lot area for a while.

Officers looked at video of the man and said they would keep an eye out for him.
