Scioto County Sheriff’s Deputies reached out to help people suffering from mental health issues on multiple occasions.
At 1 pm, they were dispatched to check on a new mom who was having issues that required medication. The woman’s boyfriend told her doctor she’d taken four times the amount of prescribed medication and then flushed the rest down the toilet. The boyfriend feared she was in a manic state.
When deputies spoke to the woman, she said she did not want to harm herself or her baby, and she refused to go to the hospital.
Half an hour later, a veteran’s group told 9-1-1 that a member had made an online post that made it look as if he was saying goodbye and might harm himself.
When deputies spoke to the man, he admitted he made the post but said he had no plans to harm himself. He said he had his father and a friend nearby and was fine.
Just before midnight, a woman called deputies after her husband held a gun to his head and threatened suicide.
Dispatch was disconnected from the woman, so a squad was put on standby until deputies could make sure it was safe at the scene. The woman called back to say she and her husband were both intoxicated and, in their kitchen. She said the weapon was put away.
The man agreed to go to the hospital with medics.
