A bizarre early-morning call in Wheelersburg had deputies climbing into a home through a second-story window after a worried mother said her son had screwed all the doors shut with himself and his family inside.
The call came in around 3:45 a.m.
The woman told dispatchers her son had fastened the doors shut and claimed there were two other people inside with him.
She was not convinced.
The caller said there were no other vehicles in the driveway and worried her son might be seeing people who were not actually there.
Her biggest concern was the grandchildren.
Deputies Climb In Through Window
When deputies arrived, they spoke with the man’s stepfather.
The family had managed to get inside the residence through a second-story window.
Once inside, deputies encountered another troubling claim.
The man reportedly told them he had his ex-girlfriend in the attic.
The available sheriff’s log does not indicate that deputies found anyone in the attic.
Deputies requested EMS and contacted Children Services.
Porter EMS evaluated the man, but the log says he refused treatment against medical advice.
Children Leave With Grandparents
Deputies then spoke with Children Services about the situation.
By the time the call was wrapped up, the children were leaving the residence with their grandparents.
No arrest or criminal charge was listed in the available report.
The incident ended without anyone being taken to jail or the hospital, but only after deputies dealt with a barricaded house, unusual claims about people inside, concerns about children, an EMS evaluation, and a call to CPS before sunrise.
