Devon Shad Holsinger

On August 28, 2025, the world said goodbye to its hero, Devon Shad Holsinger, born on October 28, 1997. Though his cape was invisible, his strength, courage, and heart made him larger than life..

From the very beginning, Devon fought battles few could imagine. Born with a rare heart condition, he defied the odds time and again, proving that superheroes don’t always come from comic books. When fate gave him the gift of a new heart, Devon embraced it not as a second chance—but as another mission to live boldly, love deeply, and protect those closest to him.

Devon’s passions mirrored the worlds he admired—he discovered light in Star Wars, courage in Harry Potter, wisdom in Matilda, imagination in Hook, and, perhaps most fittingly, justice in Batman. Like his favorite heroes, he encountered darkness but never allowed it to define him. He wielded humor, kindness, and bravery as his superpowers, inspiring everyone who knew him.

Devon joins a league of loved ones in a galaxy far, far away who have passed before him. This includes his great-grandparents, Robert, Rita Faye, Geneva, Homer, and Anna; his grandparents Rebecca, Mike, and Kim; his uncle Shane; his cousin Gabe; and a special grandma figure, Carol.

Those who will continue to share his stories of heroism and bravery include his mother, Charline; his father, Darrin; his sisters, Darrien Grace and Dierra Marie (Mason); his grandparents, Claudia and Butch, and Larry and Gail; his aunts and uncles, Kristen and Pat, Krissy and Brandon, Nathan and Megan, Uncle Ryan, and Uncle Roy; as well as Donna, who he considered a mother figure. His best friend and practically brother, Dakota, will also cherish their memories together. His cousins, Rees, Hannah, Breylen, Brody, Landon, Gunnar, Nolan H., Nolan F., and Eli, will forever treasure their adventures with him. Above all, Devon’s most devoted sidekick—his niece, Miss Maris—will grow up knowing she was her superhero uncle’s greatest love and fiercest joy. He also leaves behind a special companion, TRICO, his cat.

Although Devon’s time with us was all too brief, he lived a life deserving of legend. His story serves as a reminder that true heroes don’t always wear masks or capes; instead, they wear smiles, share love, and leave behind a legacy of strength and hope. We raise our wands in his memory.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made directly to the funeral home to help honor Devon’s life and story.
