Diane Skiver, 78, of Portsmouth, died Thursday, June 4, 2026 at Chillicothe Post Acute, with her family by her side. She was born December 7, 1947 in Portsmouth, to the late Roy and Lola (Doley) Mauk. Diane was a 1965 graduate of New Boston Gleenwood High School, where she was one of four valedictorians that year. Because of her efforts, she received full scholarships for teaching the cadet program, at Ohio University graduating Suma Cum Laude in 1969. Prior to graduation from college, she was hired by Green Local schools in 1967, teaching 1st grade, which she did for 31 years.

She enjoyed road trips with her “Class of 65” group. She looked forward to holidays, especially Easter and Christmas, because she knew all of the family would be in. Her friends and church family were very near and dear to her heart, but above all, she loved her savior Jesus Christ and was very open about her faith and witnessed to many.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Todd Skiver and her sister-in-law, Susan Mauk.

Diane is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jerry Skiver, a son, Jonathan Skiver (Tim Quade) of Ashland, KY, two daughters, Julie Skiver Stanton (David Stanton) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL, and Stephanie Sheard (Robert) of Cincinnati, a brother, Dana Mauk of Phoenix, AZ. And two grandchildren, Abigail and Blake.
