PPD responded to multiple reports involving vicious dogs and investigated a report of Detroit druggies dealing in Wayne Hills. We hit the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.

Under The Influence

Just after midnight, a Thomas Avenue caller contacted police and said there several people from Detroit dealing drugs out of a PMHA apartment. Officer responding to the scene saw no sign of drug activity.

Sextortion

A man contacted police at 10 am to report a Facebook extortion threat. He said he sent an explicit video of himself to someone who was not threatening to post it on social media.

Panhandling Problem

One of two panhandling brothers known for harassing people on Gallia Street was at it again at 12:30 pm. This time he was accosting customers at AT & T Wireless.

Dog Attacks and Kills Other Dog

At 3 pm, a Castle Street caller reported seeing a dog get loose and then kill another smaller dog. PPD dispatched Animal Control.

An officer took collected the dog and took it to animal control.

Idle Threats

A local crisis center asked police to perform a welfare check on a woman who contacted the center and threatened to harm herself.

She told police that she had no intention of harming herself but had called the counseling center and made the threat because someone made her angry.

Unwanted Guest

A woman contacted police about a man who just walked into her Summit Street house at 6 pm. Police took the man into custody.

Dog Days

A Franklin Avenue woman contacted police at 8:45 pm to report a dog attempted to attack her. She said she was walking down the street when the dog ran out of a house growling and barking at her. The same animal was just released from the pound after a previous incident.

At 9 pm, a caller reported an aggressive dog loose in Mound Park. Police said the dog appeared docile but advised the owner to keep it in the yard.

Cry For Help

Police were sent to a residence to check on a teen who had been searching the Internet for ways to harm herself. She said she didn’t want to hurt herself.

Officers also spoke to the mother who did not want to hospitalize the child.
