Portsmouth Police Officers responded to two incidents involving dogs within an hour.
Just before 3 pm, a Marshall Avenue caller reported a pit bull running loose. The caller said the animal belonged to a family on 5th Street.
Officers noted this was an ongoing issue, and Animal Control had been contacted. When police arrived at the owner’s home, they found the dog was in the yard. An officer spoke with the owner and advised him to keep the dog secured.
An hour later, PPD received a report that a woman was bitten in the face by a dog in a 17th Street Apartment. However, the woman refused to give any information about the dog or its owner and said she did not wish to file a report.
