Dog Shot, Neighbors Threaten Fight

dog shot as neighbors fight

A Taylor Hill Road dog dispute exploded into a much bigger problem Sunday evening after a woman told Scioto County deputies that an aggressive dog had trapped her father in his car — and he shot it.

Then the dog’s owner showed up.

The caller said the neighbor’s dog had come onto their property and was acting aggressively enough that her father could not get out of his vehicle. She told deputies her father shot the dog.

A few minutes later, she called 911 again and said more people had arrived and were threatening to assault him.

By the time deputies got there, the other parties had gone back to a nearby residence.

Deputies confirmed the dog was dead and called the dog warden to the scene. The animal was later released to its owner, and the people involved left the area.

But even that wasn’t quite the end of it.

Later in the call, deputies reported that another dog from the same nearby property came over. That dog was scared off, and the caller asked deputies to make a record of it.

The sheriff’s log does not indicate that anyone was arrested or charged. It also does not say whether deputies determined the shooting was justified or whether the dog’s owner could face any citation over the animals being loose.
