Dogs Abandoned in House on Scioto Trail: Then it gets Strange

Woman Almost Kills Cat In Fit of Rage

Portsmouth Officers responding to a report of a door kicked in on the Scioto Trail made a sad discovery.

Just before 1 pm, a caller reported that the front door of a home in the 2500 block of the Scioto Trail was kicked in.

There was nobody home, but officers discovered that dogs had been left in the home. Neighbors told police they’d seen people clearing out the home earlier.

However, the animals were left behind in the basement. Police contacted Animal Control, who said they’d be out to get the dogs on Monday. An officer attempted to resecure the door.

A few minutes later, a woman contacted the police to report two of her vehicles were stolen from the same home. She gave police the names of the suspects. An officer took information for a report.

Officers recovered one of the vehicles at a George Street Address two hours later in the possession of the man she claimed took it.

Just after 5 pm, New Boston Police stopped the other suspect, took her into custody, and recovered the vehicle. She was taken to the Scioto County Jail on charges of probation violation and felonious assault. Just a month ago, she was arrested for driving with a suspended license.
