Dollar General Mystery Suitcase
A bizarre incident at the Dollar General in Sciotoville.
Just after 7:30 pm, a caller said a red Chey Cruz, with two men inside, pulled up to the dumpster. One of the men threw a black suitcase into the dumpster, and the caller thought the police should check it out.
When officers arrived on the scene and retrieved the suitcase, they discovered it was full of expired, rotten summer sausage still wrapped in plastic.
Trash Dumpers Caught on Camera
At 11 am, an 8th Street business spotted two men illegally dumping mattresses in a wooded area.
A witness said they left in a green and black Ford truck pulling a trailer full of trash. The witness also had a video of the incident.
Officers checked the video and said they would attempt to locate the vehicle and cite the occupants for littering.
Stripped Stolen Truck Found on Shepherd Fork Road
Just before 1 pm, a caller riding an ATV on the trails near Nauvoo Pond Creek Road came across a truck that had been stripped of its tires.
The caller was able to make out a VIN number, and it turned out the vehicle was reported stolen from Adams County.
Officers waited until the owner showed up, and the owner arranged for a tow truck.
