Donald ‘Spook” Sparks

Donald ‘Spook” Sparks, 73, of South Shore, KY., passed away Friday, May 23, 2025, at SOMC Hospice in Portsmouth, OH. He was born in Portsmouth, OH., on July 18, 1951, a son of the late Vernon Stanley Sparks and Thelma Mae Glenn Wolford.

Spook was a United States Army Veteran, where he served our country in Vietnam, and retired from Norfolk Southern Railroad

Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Selma Sparks, who passed away in 2021, and one daughter, Danielle Holsinger.

Left behind to cherish his memory are one daughter, Melanie (Matthew) Evans of South Shore, KY; four grandchildren, Hannah, Daisha, Dailor and Daiken; two great-grandchildren, Dayanah and David; one sister, Brenda (Scott) Lovett; six brothers, Jimmy (Sandy) Sparks, Glenn Sparks, Billy (Susan) Sparks, Terry Sparks, Gerry Sparks and Carl (Christina) Wolford; along with several other family and friends who will sadly miss him.

Visitation for family and friends will be at Roberson Funeral Home in South Shore, KY., Thursday, May 29, 2025, from 10 A.M. until 12 P.M. Burial will follow at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery Northeast in Greenup, KY.
