Donna Sue Jordan Mains, 69 of Raleigh

Donna Sue Jordan Mains, 69, of Raleigh, NC, passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 23, 2025, surrounded by family after a courageous 10-year battle with Parkinson’s disease.

Born March 9, 1956, in Portsmouth, OH, Donna was the daughter of Rev. Delbert Jordan and Elta Jarvis Jordan. She spent more than 35 years with Nationwide Insurance, where her dedication, humor, and kindness earned her the respect of colleagues and friends alike.

Donna’s adventurous spirit led her across the country—she especially loved cruising, taking more than 30 voyages over the years with family and friends. She enjoyed attending church, reading books, seeing Broadway plays, and most of all shopping. Whether exploring new places or enjoying quiet moments at home, Donna filled life with laughter, generosity, and love.

She is survived by her devoted husband of 50 years, Stephen Mains; her beloved daughter, Kelly (Andrew) Grimes; and her cherished grandsons, Evan and Robert, who brought her endless joy. She is also survived by her mother-in-law, Marjorie Mains; siblings Diana (Jack) Lore, Debra (Charlie) Brown, Rick (Kim) Jordan, Della (Jeff) Dresbach, Dwana (Jeff) Dodge, and step-brother Ray (Hope) Weeks; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Donna was preceded in death by her parents, Elta and Delbert Jordan; step-mother Ethel Shuff Jordan; father-in-law James Robert Mains; infant sister Dora Jordan; and step-sister Deanna Shoemaker.

Her family and friends will remember Donna’s warmth, wit, adventurous heart, and deep faith in her Lord and Savior. She lived life with courage, loved deeply, and left behind a legacy of strength and kindness that will be forever cherished.

A memorial service will be held at Avent Ferry United Methodist Church in Raleigh, NC, on Monday, November 3, 2025, at 4:00pm.

Funeral services will be held at the D.W. Swick Funeral Home in Wheelersburg, OH, on Monday, November 10, 2025, at 11:00am with Rev. Jack Lore officiating, followed by internment at Memorial Burial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, November 9, 2025, from 5:00pm to 7:00pm.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Donna’s memory to the Parkinson’s Foundation, The Michael J. Fox Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
