A late-night food delivery shift turned stressful for one Portsmouth DoorDash driver who told police he believed he was being stalked around town by a woman and another driver.
The man approached an officer at the Marathon station and reported that a woman had allegedly been following him while he was delivering food orders.
According to the report, the driver claimed the woman repeatedly attempted to run him off the road and crash into his vehicle.
He also alleged the woman’s father was driving a second vehicle and engaging in similar behavior.
🚗 “THEY WAIT FOR ME AT TACO BELL”
The driver told police the pair would allegedly wait for him in the Taco Bell parking lot while he picked up delivery orders and then follow him afterward.
The suspected vehicles were described as:
- A black Chevy Impala or Malibu
- A gray Ford Edge
Police advised the man to immediately call back if the vehicles returned or if he encountered the individuals again.
An officer remained in the area for a time attempting to locate the vehicles.
⚠️ DELIVERY DRIVERS FACE UNIQUE RISKS
Food delivery drivers increasingly deal with:
- Road rage
- Harassment
- Robbery risks
- False delivery complaints
- Stalking accusations
- Dangerous late-night encounters
Because they spend hours:
- Driving alone
- Visiting unfamiliar neighborhoods
- Carrying cash, phones, and food
- And stopping frequently in parking lots and apartment complexes
👀 WHAT TO DO IF SOMEONE IS FOLLOWING YOU
Police generally recommend drivers who believe they’re being followed:
- Do not drive home
- Stay in well-lit public areas
- Head toward police or busy businesses
- Avoid confronting the other driver
- Call 911 if behavior escalates
Because situations that begin as harassment or intimidation can quickly become dangerous behind the wheel.
