Drive-By Shooter Terrorizes Portsmouth

A shooter armed with a BB gun assaulted multiple people and a truck crashed into a house. We hit the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing. 

Under the Influence

At 1 pm, officers responded to a report of a drunk man causing problems inside Kroger. Employees asked him to leave, but he refused. Police took the man into custody for being drunk and disorderly.

A caller reported an apparently high man and woman sitting on the sidewalk near Sunset Bowling Lanes on 17th Street. Police were unable to locate them. 

Thief Breaks Open Safe on Bloom Street

A Bloom Street caller reported a man broke into a home and stole several items. 

The callers said he also broke open the safe and stole several items. 

Drive-By Shooter 

At 8:40 pm, police tried to track down an open 911 line pinging in the 800 block of Chillicothe Street. It turned out to be a woman who said a man driving a truck drove through a parking lot and shot her with a BB gun. 

Nine minutes, a man contacted police to report someone driving a burgundy GMC shot him with a BB gun on 6th Street. Police took information for a report.

At 9 pm, police were called to Kroger on Gay Street for another report of a shooting with a BB gun. A woman said she was walking out the west door of Kroger when a man in a pickup truck shot her with a BB gun.

Truck Crashes into House, Busts Gas Line

A 7th Street caller contacted police at 9 pm to report someone drove a truck into their home and busted their gas line.

The caller wanted medics to check out his family. He said his pregnant girlfriend was very worked up about the incident. Police took information for a report. 

Child Shoved In Fight Over Trash

Police responded to a home after a woman said her boyfriend grabbed her son and tried to shoe him off a chair for refusing to take out the trash. She admitted her son tried to punch the man but did not make contact. 

She did not want to file charges but did want the incident noted.
