Drug Trafficking Operation Discovered in Rehab Facility

Recovery Housing Scioto County

A client at an area rehab facility is behind bars after law enforcement says he set up a fentanyl trafficking operation in his room at a sober living facility.

The manager of the recovery house discovered suspicious items in the patient’s room and immediately called his probation officer, who, in turn, called in deputies.

When deputies arrived at the facility, employees took them straight to Jason Yate’s room to point to a large stack of money, a baggie full of crystal rocks, and several more containing powder. There was also a set of digital scales, a number of syringes, multiple cell phones, and a pouch of meth.

The man’s roommates claimed they had no idea he had any of the items in the room.

Lawrence County Deputies field tested the substances, which tested positive as meth and fentanyl. Officers also discovered some THC. Deputies confiscated the drugs and drug-related items.

They booked Jason Yates into the Lawrence County Jail on two counts of aggravated trafficking in drugs. Yates was already on probation and in court-ordered rehab for previous charges. He’s due in court for a preliminary hearing on January 31.
