Drugs, gun seized in West Portsmouth bust
Two people were arrested and suspected illegal drugs and a gun was seized after a bust in West Portsmouth on Thursday.
The arrests were announced by Interim Portsmouth Police Chief Debby Brewer and Scioto County Sheriff Marty Donini.
It all happened when the US Marshal’s Fugitive Taskforce went looking for Christopher Michael Eldrige, 36, on an outstanding drug trafficking warrant at his residence on Crain Road in West Portsmouth.
Officers found him hiding in a bedroom of the residence with 20-year-old Amber Shively of Blue Creek. Officers also found a loaded .380 caliber handgun, digital scales, and what appeared to be drugs.
They immediately contacted the Southern Ohio Drug Task Force who came to the scene and found around 38 grams of suspected crystal meth, along with suspected cocaine. The weapon, scales, suspected drugs, and other items were all taken into evidence.
In addition to his existing trafficking charges, Eldridge was also charged with possession of suspected meth and cocaine. Ms. Shively was also arrested and charged for drug possession.
The case will be forwarded to the county prosecutor’s office for possible additional charges. Sheriff Donini and Chief Brewer remind citizens that anyone with information for the drug task force should call (740) 354-5656 or email drugs@sciotocountysheriff.com. All information will be kept confidential and anonymous.
